about

**Buy digitally at the Reversed Reference bandcamp: link below**

"The meaning of this album title varies from time to time for me. Sometimes it refers to how I'm Breaking away from the conventions of typical RR music. And then one moment it's an auditory representation of a Breakthrough or epiphany I have; the next, it's a mental Breakdown. Or maybe it's a reflection of my self-doubt: should I take a Break from music? Maybe I'm trying to Break you, the listener, and your brain. At the end of the day, though, it's all just music I'm making to convey what I feel, and I hope you can get something out of it." - Reversed Reference

The second of Reversed Reference's album releases for July 2021 and the capstone for this alias in a musical form takes on a much harsher, experimental sound palette, taking inspiration from both the japanese electroacoustic scene and the harsher, glitchier, clickier side of IDM: while the bubbly synths of Fullheartedly stay here, they sound almost rotten; like they've been left in the cupboard to mutate when compared with the grassy, summery feel of Fullheartedly.

Tracks like Burnt and Runout utilise almost trance-like supersaw synths to lead towards euphoric climaxes, like bright light in the middle of an album full of dark, nocturnal textures, while other tracks like Fill and Managing Guilt, the latter of which featuring intense rapping from Titmouse pummel you with noisy, cut up samples, barely sounding like conventional percussion as you get submersed into a dizzying stereo scape of synth textures.
